The 7-Food Regimen for a Happy Liver, According to a GI Doc

by admin477351

A Florida-based gastroenterologist has shared a simple seven-food regimen to promote a “happy” and healthy liver. These fruits and vegetables are chosen for their specific nutrients that support detoxification, blood flow, and fat metabolism.
One of the top recommendations is cranberries. The expert emphasizes the gut-liver axis, stating that “a healthier gut is linked to a healthier liver.” The polyphenols in cranberries act as prebiotics, nourishing the gut microbiome and thus supporting the liver.
Another key recommendation is the combination of watermelon and lime. The citrulline in watermelon and vitamin C in lime work together to support nitric oxide production, which is vital for maintaining healthy blood flow to the liver.
The doctor also highlights foods for metabolic health. Raspberries, with their fiber and anthocyanins, help regulate blood sugar and improve the body’s processing of fats. Apples paired with cinnamon are also suggested, as they provide pectin fiber and compounds that support insulin sensitivity and healthy lipid levels.
Pomegranates (for inflammation), beetroot (for fat processing), and strawberries with dark chocolate (70%+) complete the list. Beetroot’s betaine helps move fat out of liver cells, while the strawberry-chocolate combo is great for blood vessel function.
