Greece retained its position at the top of its Nations League group after a 2-2 draw against the Netherlands in Thessaloniki on Thursday. The match saw Greece take an early lead, with Fotis Ioannidis scoring the opening goal in the 23rd minute, assisted by a header from Giorgos Masouras. Greece extended their advantage in first-half stoppage time as Masouras found the net from close range, following Ioannidis’s interception of a poor backpass by the Netherlands.

The second half saw a revitalized Netherlands side. Virgil van Dijk reduced the deficit in the 59th minute with a powerful header from a Joey Veerman corner. Despite a crucial late save from Greece’s goalkeeper Konstantis Tzolakis, the Netherlands managed to equalize in the 89th minute with Tijjani Reijnders scoring from close range.

With this result, Greece now stands at seven points, maintaining a two-point lead over the Netherlands. The Greek team will face Germany in their next match on Sunday, aiming to continue their strong performance in the group.
