Despite Niewiadoma’s persistent attempts to take the lead during the climbs, she was unable to outpace Vollering.
The victory for Vollering was underscored by an ongoing conflict between her and Niewiadoma concerning race tactics during the previous stage. Tensions arose after Niewiadoma accused Célia Gery, a member of Vollering’s team, of blocking her during a critical part of the race on Saturday. This incident led to criticism and continuing discussions between the competitors leading up to the final stage.
Despite the controversy, Niewiadoma recognized Vollering’s exceptional performance, acknowledging her strength and expressing a desire to engage in fair competition.
