Kazakhstan and Germany are set to enhance their economic cooperation following high-level talks in Berlin. On September 29, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier discussed ways to bolster bilateral relations, particularly focusing on investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport.

Describing Germany as a key strategic partner in Europe, President Tokayev emphasized the progress made in bilateral relations over the past 30 years. During his visit, he proposed the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform to support joint projects and facilitate investment between the two nations.

President Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to explore collaborations in various sectors, including transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Notably, discussions centered around the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the modernization of railway infrastructure, and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities in Kazakhstan.

The discussions highlighted opportunities for German companies to partake in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan, potentially offering them greater access to the broader Central Asian market. This cooperative initiative underscores an intent to deepen economic ties and leverage mutual strengths in advancing shared economic goals.
