Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has advocated for enhanced cooperation between China and Germany, emphasizing the importance of multilateralism, free trade, and dialogue during a recent phone call with his German counterpart. The conversation took place on Monday between Wang and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, where both leaders underscored the need for deeper economic and strategic collaboration.
Highlighting the global economic challenges, Wang proposed that increased communication and mutual trust between the two nations could lead to practical benefits. He also urged Germany to uphold the one-China principle and contribute to stability across the Taiwan Strait. Wang stressed that China and the European Union should address their economic and trade differences through dialogue instead of confrontation.
German Foreign Minister Wadephul echoed Wang’s sentiments, noting that relations between Germany and China have maintained positive momentum. He expressed support for expanding high-level exchanges and fostering greater cooperation in trade and economic affairs, while reaffirming Germany’s adherence to the one-China policy.
The dialogue also covered international issues such as the situations in Iran and Ukraine. Wang assured that China remains committed to promoting peace efforts and reinforcing communication with both Germany and the European Union.
